FYVIE CASTLE

Fyfie Castle was glowing pink in the late morning sunshine when we visited. The pink sandstone is because it was built of the local pink sandstone that is prevalent in many Scottish Castles. We were awestruck by the beauty of the architecture and the ornate decoration at the top of the castle.

The oldest part of this castle was built in the thirteenth century but there are a total of five towers of the castle each named for a different family. There is an old tradition that claims each of these families were responsible for building one of the towers.

Fyvie Castle is located just one mile north of Fyvie village in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It is a lovely place to visit for serious and casual castle enthusiasts
